Domenic Godshall has been selected as the Saint Joseph’s University Hawk mascot for the upcoming 2018-19 men’s basketball season, it was announced by head coach Phil Martelli.

Godshall becomes the 39th student to represent the University as its mascot in one of college basketball’s most renowned traditions.

A rising senior sports marketing major, Godshall served as the Hawk mascot for the Saint Joseph’s women’s basketball program this past season. He was a two-year team manager for the women’s team and previously served as a manager for the Hawks’ men’s basketball team as a freshman.

“Dom was impressive during the interview process last Spring that led to Mikaela Bakey being named the Hawk for 2017-18. As I watched his interaction with the women’s basketball program this past season, and with the public appearances he made as the Hawk, I became even more convinced that he would be a great representative of the University and our program. I welcome him and look forward to working with him next season,” said Martelli.

A native of Lititz, Pa. and graduate of Manheim Central High School, Godshall has held leadership positions with the SJU Sports Marketing Club and the SJU Down to Pray Christian Fellowship.

The Hawk mascot, which has been in existence for 62 seasons, is best known for staying in constant motion by flapping its wings throughout every basketball game and representing Saint Joseph’s motto, “The Hawk Will Never Die”.
