PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's women's basketball team has earned a berth in the 2018 Postseason Women's National Invitation Tournament, organization officials announced on Monday night. Selected as one of 32 at-large bids, the Hawks will travel to Seton Hall this Wednesday, March 14.
Game time for Wednesday's first round contest will be announced at a later time.
Finishing the season with a flurry, Saint Joseph's won eight of its last 10 games and finished tied for fifth in the Atlantic 10. Despite falling to George Washington in the A-10 Championship title game, the Hawks enter postseason with an 18-14 overall record.
The bid marks the 11th overall WNIT berth for Saint Joseph's and 12th overall postseason berth under head coach Cindy Griffin.
Should Saint Joseph's top Seton Hall, the Hawks would advance to play either Bucknell or West Virginia in the second round.
Second round games will be held March 17-20. The third round is slated for March 21-23 with quarterfinals running March 24-26, and semifinals March 28-29.
The WNIT Championship Game will be played at 3 p.m. on March 31 and will be televised by the CBS Sports Network.
