PHILADELPHIA – Saint Joseph’s junior righthander Tim Brennan was named the Philadelphia Big 5 Baseball Pitcher of the Week on Monday afternoon.

The Philadelphia native was outstanding on Friday afternoon as five Hawk pitchers combined to one-hit Missouri State in a 6-3 SJU victory at the Keith LeClair Classic in Greenville, North Carolina.

Brennan struck out the first two batters of the game before allowing walks on full counts to the next two hitters.  After a double brought home two runs, Brennan was nearly unhittable for the remainder of the afternoon, as the only baserunners he allowed reached on fielding errors.  He allowed just the two runs, one hit, and two walks to go with nine strikeouts in six innings.

The Hawks return to the diamond on Friday when they take on Florida International in the Snowbird Classic in Port Charlotte, Florida.
