Saint Joseph’s University has entered into a new partnership with Talk Radio 1210 WPHT AM to broadcast the majority of its men’s basketball games during the 2017-18 season.
Talk Radio 1210 WPHT will air 23 of the Hawks’ 30 regular-season games this year, beginning with the season opener at Toledo on Saturday, November 11.
The Saint Joseph's Sports Network team of Matt Martucci and Lunardi will return for their ninth season together, with Lunardi is marking his 28th year as the Hawks' color analyst.
Saint Joseph’s first five games will be heard on 1210 WPHT AM, including the game at Illinois at Chicago (Nov.13), the home opener vs. Princeton (Nov. 18) and the first two games of the Wooden Legacy in Fullerton, Calif.
Other games on the non-conference schedule that will air on the station are home games with Bucknell (Nov. 29), Villanova (Dec. 2) and Maine (Dec. 17), along with the Basketball Hall of Fame Holiday Showcase contest vs. St. John’s (Dec. 20).
WPHT picks up the coverage of the conference schedule with SJU’s home games against VCU (Jan. 3) and St. Bonaventure (Jan. 6), as well as the road contest at Massachusetts (Jan. 14).
Two games – January 17 vs. Dayton and January 24 at St. Bonaventure – will be broadcast on Talk 990 AM WNTP, with the coverage of five other games to be announced.
Talk Radio 1210 WPHT will air the final 11 games of the regular season, starting with the game against Penn (Jan. 27) at the Palestra.
In addition, coach Phil Martelli’s “HawkTalk” radio show will air live on Thursdays from 7 to 8 p.m. via audio streaming on SJUHawks.com, with a podcast on Talk Radio 1210 WPHT. The show will broadcast from J.D. McGillicuddy’s in Havertown, Pa.
