The Saint Joseph's women's rowing team continues its Fall season by competing in the Collegiate Small Boat Challenge in Mercer County, N.J. on Saturday and Sunday, October 7-8, hosted at the Caspersen Boat Center.
Time trials are set for Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. with the finals being contested from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Sunday.
The Hawks will take a scaled-down squad to the competition, racing two doubles and three pairs. Among the teams SJU will face are UMass, Rhode Island, Syracuse and Columbia. Saint Joseph's lineups are:
Double: Reece Long, Bri Stone
Double: Shane Devine, Olivia Herbstritt
Pair: Maria Biancaniello, Katherine Robb
Pair: Kiernan Loue, Isabella Haleski
Pair: Aliie Howell, Jen Raphelson
"We have been in small boats since the second week of practice as we continue to mix up practices to identify our strengths and weaknesses. The Fall season for us is about gathering information so that we know what to hone over the winter. This Small Boat Challenge fits right into our scheme," said coach Gerry Quinlan.
As with last week's Lehigh Invitational, it will mark a change from the typical Fall format and the teams will be rowing 2000 meters.
