APALACHIN, N.Y. - The Saint Joseph's golf team is tied for first, while junior Ross Pilliod holds the individual lead after Sunday's first round of the Matthews Auto Collegiate Invitational.

Playing at the par-72 Links at Hiawatha Landing Championship Tees (7,104 yards), the Hawks shot 295 on Sunday and are tied with St. Bonaventure for first place in the 17-team field.

Individually, Pilliod carded a two-under-par 70 and enters Monday with a one-stroke lead. Sophomore Michael O'Brien and rookie Wills Montgomery are tied for 11th at 73, with Tommy Lewis tied for 51st at 79. Noah Henderson rounded out the five-man squad with a score of 80 and is tied for 61st.

The final round begins at 8:30 a.m. on Monday.
