PINE VALLEY, N.J. - Former Saint Joseph's standout golfer Michael McDermott '97 bested Bill Williamson, 1 up, to capture the 93rd Crump Memorial Tournament at Pine Valley Golf Club on Sunday.

McDermott, who previously won the Crump Cup in 2012, defeated Jamie Miller 2 & 1 in a semifinal contest on Sunday to advance to the title match versus Williamson.

In a back-and-forth tilt for the title, McDermott headed to the 17th hole down one in the match. After a drive left him 125-yards from the pin, McDermott followed with a 52-degree wedge from 125 yards out that bounced past the hole, but spun back and in for an eagle to even the match.

With the tournament on the line, McDermott posted a four on the 18th hole. And when Williamson conceded a short put, the Hawk Hall of Famer added his second Crump Cup title to his impressive amateur resume.

"I guess there is something about Pine Valley and Crump week that makes this week more special than all the others for me," McDermott told reporters. "I guess a little home course knowledge doesn't hurt either."
