NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Saint Joseph’s freshman forward Quinn Maguire was named the Atlantic 10 Field Hockey Rookie of the Week for the second consecutive week, the league office announced on Monday.
Maguire scored two goals in Sunday’s 3-1 win over #22 Rutgers, including the game-winner. She followed her own rebound to put the Hawks on top midway through the second half and then added another as time expired to set the final margin. The win was SJU’s first over a ranked team since October 2009, and its first ever at Ellen Ryan Field.
A native of Media, Pennsylvania, Maguire took over the team lead in goals and points with five and 10, respectively, and now ranks among the league leaders in both categories.
The Hawks return to their home pitch to wrap up a three-game homestand this weekend with games against Saint Louis on Friday and Lock Haven on Sunday.
