COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Saint Joseph's women's soccer team returns to action this Sunday as the Hawks head to Ohio State for a 1 p.m. match with the Buckeyes.
The Hawks are coming off a thrilling 4-3 overtime win at Towson last Sunday that saw SJU rally from a 3-1 deficit to tie the game in the final minutes. In overtime, junior Paige Bergman delivered the decisive strike less than three minutes in off a corner kick to lift her squad to the victory.
On the season, Hannah Racis has paced SJU in goals (four) and points (10), while Gabrielle Vagnozzi ranks second in goals (three) and points (seven). Between the pipes, junior Grace Bendon has gone 3-1-1 and played all 472:19, while posting a .742 save percentage.
Ohio State caps its nonconference play this weekend as it welcomes Notre Dame on Friday to Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium before hosting the Hawks on Sunday. Receiving votes in both the United Soccer Coaches and TopDrawerSoccer.com top-25 polls, the Buckeyes enter the week undefeated at 4-0-1 and are coming off a 6-2 win over South Florida last weekend.
Sunday's match also marks the first ever meeting between Saint Joseph's and Ohio State.
