NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The 2017 Saint Joseph’s women’s cross country team has been predicted to finish seventh in a field of 14 squads at the 2017 Atlantic 10 Women’s Cross Country Championship, according to the conference’s preseason poll released on Wednesday afternoon. Voting was conducted by the league’s 14 head coaches.

The Hawks, predicted to finish eighth at last year’s A-10 meet, placed seventh in 2016 and return their two All-Conference finishers in junior Lindsey Oremus (11th) and senior Cassidy Weimer (12th) alongside additional scorers in sophomore Meridith Twomey (66th) and senior Caroline Keegan (80th) as well as junior Britton Gagliardi and sophomore Emily Bracken, SJU’s #6 and #7 finishers a year ago. SJU will look to fill the vacancy of graduate Sarah Regnault (20th), who finished as SJU’s #3 runner.

The 2017 Atlantic 10 Women’s Cross Country Championship will be hosted by George Mason University at the Oatlands Plantation in Leesburg, Va. on Saturday, October 28.

Saint Joseph’s kicks off the 2017 campaign this Saturday, September 2 at the TCNJ Blue/Gold Invitational.
