Michael Booth and Brendan Casper of the Saint Joseph’s men’s basketball team have been named to the 2016-17 NABC Honors Court, as announced today by the National Association of Basketball Coaches. The Honors Court recognizes those men’s collegiate basketball student-athletes who excelled in academics during the past season as well as the talents and gifts that these men possess off the court and the hard work they exhibit in the classroom.

Booth, a 6-3 guard, is a rising senior who joined the squad as a walk-on in 2014-15. A pharmaceutical marketing major, he has earned recognition on both the Saint Joseph’s Athletic Director’s and Atlantic 10 Commissioner’s Honor Rolls all three years thus far.

Casper, a senior tri-captain in 2016-17, graduated in May with a bachelor’s degree in administration. The 6-6 forward/guard reached new career-highs this season, averaging 18.3 minutes per game in all 31 contests, and hit for personal bests in points (13), rebounds (9) and assists (7). Casper, a former walk-on who earned a scholarship in the Spring of 2016, became a key rotation player this season and filled in at point guard after the injuries to Shavar Newkirk and Lamarr Kimble.
