Capping her Saint Joseph's career by helping the Hawks to their first ever Atlantic 10 regular season title, recent women's soccer standout Shannon Mulvey '17 will soon embark on the next step of her career as a professional player with Le Havre Athletic Club in Le Havre, France.

Finishing third all-time in assists (14) and helping the Hawks to three A-10 Tournament appearances during her time in the Crimson and Gray, Mulvey recently took some time to talk about her upcoming first year as a professional and how Saint Joseph's University and the women's soccer program helped prepare her for the next stages of her life.

How did the opportunity to play professionally come about?
I found out about this amazing opportunity through Coach Jess Mannella. She had heard about the opportunity through the soccer world and passed the information onto me! She helped me get in touch with the right people to find out more.

How did playing at Saint Joseph's prepare you for playing as a pro?
Saint Joseph's has prepared me for this experience in so many ways. Through athletics I have gained the skills and confidence that I will need to hopefully be successful in this adventure. I am more prepared for adversity on and off the field after my four years on Hawk Hill. Through athletics I have gained a true appreciation for the team atmosphere and learned that my teammates can be the best friends and support system. In the classroom setting, Saint Joseph's has exposed me to the differences of the world and deepened my understanding of people and culture. I've learned to look at situations as opportunities for growth and learning. I am beyond excited to take what I've learned and see what this opportunity has to offer.

What has been your favorite memory so far of being a professional player?
Unfortunately, I haven't actually started playing yet so I don't really have any favorite memories.
