PHILADELPHIA – Saint Joseph's men's tennis senior captain Kyle Chalmers was voted a 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-District Men's At-Large First Team selection, the organization has announced.

With his selection, Chalmers becomes eligible for Academic All-America honors, also awarded by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

A native of Tempe, Arizona, Chalmers tied the school's all-time record for career singles victories, winning 73 matches.  He is also SJU's all-time leader in victories in the third singles flight, having amassed 20 wins, and ranks third all-time with 18 second-flight triumphs as well.

Chalmers is a two-time Atlantic 10 All-Conference Second Team honoree, and has been named to the Atlantic 10 All-Academic and the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Teams in each of the past two seasons.  In 2015, Chalmers was named the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Men's Tennis Performer of the Year.

This season, Chalmers ranked second on the squad in singles (18), doubles (16), and overall victories (34).  He posted winning records in each of his seasons in the Crimson and Gray, including a stellar 19-4 singles mark as a freshman.

In addition to his achievements on the court, the business intelligence & analytics major is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and has been named to both the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's and Saint Joseph's Athletic Director's Honor Rolls in each of his semesters on Hawk Hill.

Joining Chalmers on the District 2 First Team are Saint Joseph's junior men's lacrosse standout Chris Blewitt, Will Anti (rifle) of West Virginia, Navy's Ryan Bailey (swimming) and Corey Wilding (wrestling), tennis players Lukas Clemens and Mate Virag of Northern Kentucky, Monmouth's Nick Hreshko (lacrosse) and wrestlers Jason Nolf and Zain Retherford of Penn State.
