VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Saint Joseph's women's tennis team closed out its regular season schedule at rival Villanova on Friday. The Hawks battled the Wildcats, but ultimately fell to host Villanova, 6-1.

The Wildcats took the opening point of the match with wins at all three doubles flights.

In singles play, senior Sarah Contrata earned her 17th singles win on the year with a 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 victory at the sixth flight.

The Hawks got strong efforts at the other flights, but the host Wildcats would pull out wins to take the team victory.

"A good match despite the score. Very competitive matches on all courts," said SJU head coach Ian Crookenden. "I think we are well prepared for Atlantic 10 Championships next week."

Saint Joseph's (6-15) will be back in action at the 2017 Atlantic 10 Championship starting next Wednesday at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida.
