NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Saint Joseph’s sophomore righthander Tim Brennan was named the Atlantic 10 Baseball Co-Pitcher of the Week on Monday afternoon in an announcement from the league office.

Brennan was magnificent on Friday night, allowing two runs – just one of them earned – on five hits in eight and a third innings as the Hawks topped William and Mary, 3-2, for their first win of the season.  The Philadelphia native struck out eight Tribe hitters without allowing a walk, retiring 10 of the first 11 batters of the game and seven in a row in the late innings to carry the lead into the ninth.

Brennan shares the honor with Matt Murphy of Rhode Island.

After a pair of weather-related cancellations, the Hawks are set to open their home slate on Friday, March 17, against UMass Lowell.
