The Saint Joseph's field hockey program will welcome a strong class of new student-athletes for the 2017 season.  Over the coming weeks, we'll introduce Hawk fans to the new additions, one by one. This week: Emily Henry.

Emily Henry, a forward/midfielder from Northampton Area High School and the Marojoka club program, is set to join the Saint Joseph’s field hockey squad in 2017.

A native of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Henry was named to the Morning Call All-Area First Team and was a First Team EPC All-Star and a Second Team Lehigh Valley Live All-Area selection as well.

Ranking fourth on the school’s all-time goal-scoring list, she helped lead Northampton Area to the District 11 quarterfinals three times, including a semifinal berth in 2014.

“I am excited to begin this new part of my life with my new Hawk family and achieve my goals,” Henry said.  “I can’t wait to begin my career as a Hawk.”

Henry played her club hockey with Marojoka, and was part of the USA Field Hockey Futures program for two years.  A two-sport star at Northampton Area, she was also a member of the lacrosse team, and was the first in school history to score 100 goals in her career.

“As soon as I set foot on campus, I knew it was the perfect place for me to continue my academic and athletic career, and to achieve my academic and athletic goals,” the honor roll student and NFHCA National Academic Squad said.

“Powerful and full of potential, Emily will be an exciting addition to watch,” head coach Lynn Farquhar said.  “Her quickness, ‘never give up’ mentality, and love for the game are key strengths. We’re excited to have our third Northampton ‘Konkrete Kid,’ as Emily follows fellow K-Kid alums Emily Nonnemacher ’17 and Jordan Martin ’15 to Hawk Hill.”

Henry and the rest of the new Hawks will join the program in time for the 2017 season.
