WESTON, Fla. - The Saint Joseph's golf team opened the spring portion of its schedule this past week at the Atlantic 10 Match Play event at Weston Hill Country Club.

The Hawks opened play on Sunday with a tough match against Dayton. The Flyers would take the match, 6-0, and go on to win the three-day event.

Saint Joseph's followed with a close match against George Mason on Monday. The Hawks' Ross Pilliod picked up a point with a one-up victory over Taka Nojima, while Noah Henderson and Drew Taylor combined for a point as both halved their matches. The Patriots would go on to win the match 4-2 with three more individual victories.

In the event's final match, the Hawks and St. Bonaventure Michael O'Brien earned a one-up win over Corey Long as Taylor, Pilliod and Reed Winkler all halved their matches. Unfortunately for SJU, the Bonnies picked up wins at the other two matches to earn the team win, 3.5-2.5.

Saint Joseph's is back in action March 18-19 at the Patriot Intercollegiate.
