NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Saint Joseph's redshirt junior captain Dan Savage and junior David Dorsey have been voted onto the 2016 Atlantic 10 Men's Cross Country Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference Team, the league office announced on Tuesday afternoon. The team is comprised of student-athletes who were selected based on their performance on the trails as well as in the classroom. To be nominated, runners must have a GPA of 3.0 or better (on a 4.0 scale) for their entire academic career. The teams were selected through voting conducted by the league's Sports Information Directors.

Savage and Dorsey are joined on the All-Academic Team by Davidson’s Walker Mogen, Hunter Johnston and Chris Negri of Dayton, and Paolo Tavares of Massachusetts.

Savage led all Hawks at the 2016 Atlantic 10 Cross Country Championship on October 29, placing 17th in a field of 123 racers with an 8k time of 25:21.7. Savage also finished 44th at the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational and 54th at the Princeton Invitational and, most recently, led SJU with a 26th-place finish at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship. The honor marks the second of Savage's career, as he was also voted onto the squad a season ago. The risk management and insurance major out of Glenolden, Pa. has scored in all five of his races this season.

Dorsey finished 29th at the 2016 Atlantic 10 Cross Country Championship as SJU's #4 finisher and led the Hawks with a 10th-place finish in a field of 277 racers at the Princeton Invitational, a 25th-place finish at the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational, and an 82nd-place finish at the Paul Short Run. Dorsey finished as SJU's #2 runner last time out at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship and has scored in all five of his races this season. Dorsey is an English major out of Emmitsburg, Md.

Savage, Dorsey, and the Hawks will cap the 2016 season this Saturday, November 19 at the IC4A Championship at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, N.Y. Start time is scheduled for 10:15 a.m.
