STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Sophomore standout Lindsey Oremus led the Hawks for her sixth consecutive race of the season as the Saint Joseph's women's cross country squad finished 16th in a field of 28 teams at the 2016 NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship, hosted by Penn State University at the Blue and White Golf Course on Friday afternoon. The Hawks turned in an average 6k time of 22:32 and 449 points on the day.

The Hawks had raced the course back on September 10 as part of the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational. On Friday afternoon, all five of SJU's scorers crushed their times from that race.

Paced by a 5:51 mile average, Oremus cruised through the course in 21:51, her second-fastest 6k time of the season, to place 45th in the field of 188 countable finishers. Oremus opened her sophomore campaign at the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational and improved upon that time (22:54) by over an entire minute on Friday afternoon.

Senior Sarah Regnault followed up in 58th overall, clocking in at 22:01. The time was over two entire minutes faster than her last race at the Blue and White Golf Course earlier this season.

Junior Cassidy Weimer finished next for the Hawks in 81st (22:21), while freshman Meridith Twomey (127th, 23:02) and junior Caroline Keegan (138th, 23:25) closed out the scoring for the Crimson and Gray.

Sophomore Britton Gagliardi (147th, 23:39) and freshman Emily Bracken (161st, 24:09) rounded out SJU's racers.

Saint Joseph's will close the 2016 cross country season at the ECAC Championship at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, N.Y. on Saturday, November 19. The Coaches' Race is slated for 9:15 a.m., followed by the Championship Race at 11:00 a.m.
