The Saint Joseph's women's rowing team had success in the Collegiate Small Boat Regatta in West Windsor, NJ., despite facing a strong breeze and tailwind.
The Hawks saw four of five boats advance to the Grand Finals - with two of their three pairs and both doubles.
Maddy Kuntz and Lauren Slattery teamed up to finish a solid fifth place in the A Final.
Maria Biancaniello and Katherine Robb rowed a great race to win their final by more than three seconds, while Cailin McCully and Natalie Simms teamed up to finish second in their final, besting a UMass boat in the final 500 meteres.
Maria Biancaniello and Maddy Kuntz raced again in the double and toughed out a third-place finish, with the freshman double of Allie Howell and Isabella Haleski finishing fifth.
"It was a great day for us. We brought the group up to Mercer to get out of our comfort zone and learn about accountability and guts by racing in the small boats. We had a great week of practice and it was spectacular to see everyone apply the work we did during the week on race day," said head coach Gerry Quinlan.
