MECHANICSVILLE, Va. – Led by the All-Conference performances of sophomore Lindsey Oremus (11th) and junior Cassidy Weimer (12th), the Saint Joseph's women's cross country squad placed seventh at the 2016 Atlantic 10 Cross Country Championship on Saturday morning, hosted by the University of Richmond at Pole Green Park. The Hawks placed three in the top 20 of the 5k race en route to 178 total points for the meet. Richmond won the race with 77 points.

Seven of 10 Hawks either broke or matched their collegiate-best 5k times.

Oremus (17:42.7 PR) and Weimer (17:47.6 PR) went sub-18:00 for the first times in their career to lead the Crimson and Gray with their top-15 finishes in the field of 131 total racers.

Paced by a 5:41 mile average, Oremus improved upon her previous collegiate-best 5k (18:03.9), set at Pole Green Park during A-10s last season, by 21.2 seconds for the 11th-place finish.

Weimer was paced by a 5:43 mile average to improve upon last year's A-10 5k time (18:46.3) by just under an entire minute.

Placing two in the top 15, Saint Joseph's turned in a pair of All-Conference performances for the first time since 2000, when Christine Kane and Gabby Quezada both earned the recognition. It also marks the first time SJU landed at least one runner on the All-Conference team since Lizzy Barrett placed 12th in 2013.

In her final Atlantic 10 race, senior captain Sarah Regnault placed 20th in 18:00.1 to match her collegiate-best time, set at Pole Green Park during A-10s last season. Regnault edged out Davidson's Sarah Sears for the top-20 finish.

Freshman Meridith Twomey (18:40.4 PR) and junior Caroline Keegan (18:54.5 PR) both went sub-19:00 for the first times in their first collegiate cross country seasons to place 66th and 80th, respectively, to round out the scoring for the Crimson and Gray.

Sophomore Britton Gagliardi (19:13.8) and freshman Emily Bracken (19:16.0) finished as SJU's #6 and #7 runners in 94th and 96th, respectively, while freshman Emily Schaeffer (108th, 19:37.4 PR), sophomore Elaine Estes (109th, 19:41.9 PR), and junior Julia Jenkins (125th, 20:32.5) rounded out SJU's racers.

Saint Joseph's returns to action on Friday, November 11 at the 2016 NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship, to be held at Penn State University's Blue/White Golf Course in State College, Pa. Start time is scheduled for noon.
