The Saint Jospeh’s men’s rowing team opened up the Fall racing season by hosting the 30th Navy Day Regatta, and the day was highlighted by a sweep of the top three places in the Varsity 4+.

There were a record number of participants in the Regatta, with 778 entries and a total of 3,363 participants from 111 programs and clubs.

SJU’s “A” boat took first in the Varsity 4, clocking a 14:31.43, with the crew comprised of: c- Caroline Bird, 4- Keenan Perry, 3- Matt Ladd, 2- Dave Wong, 1- Matt Conlin.

The “B” boat placed second while the “C” boat finished third. The lineup for the “B” boat was: c- Jenn Reynolds, 4- Garren Best, 3-Claudio Recchilungo, 2- Eric Jones, 1- Tom Puhalski; while the “C” boat featured: c- Nick Colasuonno, 4- Joe Sullivan, 3- Riley McGwin, 2- Jack Darling, 1- James Hammerstedt.

The Hawks’ Varsity 8 "A" finished fifth in 13:18.52 with a lineup of: c Caroline Bird, 8 Matt Ladd, 7 Keenan Perry, 6 Garren Best, 5 Slam Dunkley, 4 Devin Swech, 3 Riley McGwin, 2 Jack Darling, 1 Dave Wong

SJU’s newcomers raced for the first time as the Freshman 8 placed eighth, with the boat comprised of: c- Vincent Amrhein, 8- David Gee, 7- Slam Dunkley, 6- Devin Swech, 5- Mark White, 4- Kevin Lichtenfels, 3- Julian Palermo, 2- Justin Hawkins, 1- Patrick Ganter.

Saint Joseph’s returns to action next weekend, October 23, at the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston.
