Katie Shields enters her 26th year as a member of SJU's adminstration being promoted to the senior associate athletic director for development in October 2018. After serving as the associate vice president for development for the past six years, she will now concentrate her efforts solely on athletics.
Shields manages athletic fundraising activities at the University and serves as the university’s liaison with booster clubs affiliated with SJU athletics and spearheaded fundraising efforts for the Ramsay Basketball Center, Michael J. Hagan Arena and Sweeney Field.
During her tenure at SJU, Shields also served as interim vice president for development at the University, managing the last campaign, With Faith and Strength to Dare: The Campaign for Saint Joseph’s University, which raised $152.3M.
After graduation from Saint Joseph’s in 1987, she returned to Hawk Hill in 1990, and received her master’s degree in education in 1993, while serving as the executive director of athletic development.
A Philadelphia native, she and her husband Brian have two children - Emily, a 2018 SJU graduate, and Brian, a current sophomore at Saint Joseph's.
