FAIRFAX STATION, VA. - The Saint Joseph's women's rowing team earned two bronze medals and finished third in the team standings at the 2014 Atlantic 10 Women's Rowing Championships, held at the Occoquan Reservoir.

The Hawks totaled 36 points to finish behind UMass (52 points) and Rhode Island (50).

Myra McCann and Amanda McEvoy of the Varsity 8 were named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team, while Maura Mahoney of that boat earned All-A-10 Second Team honors.

The Hawks' Varsity 8 and Third Varsity 8 each placed third in their races.

"We had a great day. This was a huge improvement from our seventh-place finish in 2013.  Our young team really stepped up this weekend and surprised a lot of people with a top-three finish," said coach Gerry Quinlan. "This is a great way to finish the season. We have a very young team and we look very strong for the future by showing our depth this year.

The Varsity 8 was comprised of: c- Myra McCann; 8- Amanda McEvoy; 7- Taylor Biesiada; 6- Maura Mahoney; 5- Brittany Stokes; 4- Emily Serkes; 3- Maura Daly; 2- Nicola ODonnell; 1- Alexa Lawson.

The lineup for the Third Varsity 8 was: c- Paige Cesky; 8- Ashley Varghese; 7- Colleen Tritt; 6- Emma Callahan; 5- Eileen Welsh; 4- Johnna McGovern; 3- Margot Merrill; 2- Emily Hicken; 1- Sarah Donahue.

The Second Varsity 8 finished fourth and the Varsity 4 won the Petite Final. The Second Varsity 8 was comprised of:  c- Mary Kate Gibbons; 8- Maggie Mueller; 7- Anjelica Grebenschikoff; 6- Delaney McGuire; 5- Maddy Kuntz; 4- Kelly Rupert; 3- Angie Nocella; 2- Angie Smith; 1- Elizabeth Parker

The crew for the Varsity 4 was: c- Nazel Malhani, 4- Ashley Vargese, 3- Colleen Tritt, 2- Emma Callahan; 1- Eileen Welsh.

Saint Joseph's will close out the season at the Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta on May 9 and 10.
