Hawks Earn Third Seed For Atlantic 10 Softball Championship

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Saint Joseph's softball team will enter next week's Atlantic 10 Championship as the third seed and open play versus sixth seed La Salle at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Bahoshy Field on the campus of Fordham University.

Earning their seventh straight postseason bid under head coach Terri Adams, the Hawks finished the regular season with a 10-6 mark in the A-10 and 20-18 record overall. After starting conference play with a 4-4 record, Saint Joseph's won three of its final four A-10 doubleheaders, including a sweep of St. Bonaventure on Saturday.

Should the Hawks top La Salle, they will advance to face second seed Saint Louis at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. The bracket sets up for Saint Joseph's to play at noon on Friday in the semifinals should it win, with the championship slated for a 1 p.m. start on Saturday.

Rounding out the field, top-seed Fordham earned a first round bye, while fourth seed Masachusetts and fifth seed Dayton will open the tournament at noon on Wednesday.
