NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Saint Joseph’s freshman Tristan Boustany was named the Atlantic 10 Men’s Tennis Rookie of the Week on Tuesday, the league office announced.  Boustany posted a 5-0 singles record last week to propel the Hawks to wins in their final four regular season matches.

Boustany won all five of his matches across the fourth and fifth flights to extend his personal winning streak to eight.  He quickly dispatched conference foes Nick Barker of George Mason and Brian Balico of La Salle on Tuesday and Wednesday before outlasting Villanova’s Michael Rosengren in a three-set battle on Friday.

The Elkridge, Md., native then cruised to victories over Oliver Bellomi of Saint Peter’s and Michael Humes of Chestnut Hill to close out the regular season.  Boustany also notched a doubles win as he was pressed into emergency service due to injuries in the squad.

Boustany and the Hawks will head to Charlottesville, Va., for the Atlantic 10 Men’s Tennis Championship beginning on Thursday.  The sixth-seeded Hawks will take on 11th-seeded La Salle on Thursday afternoon, with the winner advancing to meet third-seeded Duquesne in the quarterfinals on Friday.
