CLEARWATER, Fla. - The Saint Joseph's softball team capped play at the USF Under Armour Showcase with a 4-2 win over Miami (Ohio) on Sunday.
The Hawks jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the second on a two-run single by senior Maria Ficca.
Miami cut the SJU lead to 2-1 in the bottom of the inning, but Saint Joseph's answered back in the top of the third on a two-run home run by sophomore Brandi Harkness.
In the circle, freshman Emily Rogers allowed one run over the first three innings, while striking out two, while sophomore Liz Mendez finished the game off, earning the win, allowing one run and striking out three over the final four innings.
Saint Joseph's returns to action Wednesday at Delaware.
