NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Three Saint Joseph’s field hockey players took home Atlantic 10 postseason honors as the league announced its All-Conference teams on Thursday afternoon.  Junior forward Jordan Martin was named to the All-Conference Second Team, while freshmen Melanie Colozzi and Marin Vreeburg earned spots on the All-Rookie Team.

Martin led the Hawks in goals (eight), assists (seven), and points (23) this season, setting new career highs in all three categories.  She also led the team with three game-winning goals on the year, notching three.

The Nazareth, Pennsylvania native was named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week on October 28 after tallying a goal and an assist in the win over Saint Louis and the lone goal in SJU’s win over Saint Francis.

It is the second consecutive All-Atlantic 10 Second Team honor for Martin, who was also tabbed for the All-Rookie Team in 2011.

Colozzi played nearly every minute of every game for the Hawks, helping anchor the defensive backline.  She scored her first career goal to propel SJU past Towson, 1-0, on September 15, and also added an assist for three total points.

A native of Reading, Pa., Colozzi was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week on September 16.

Vreeburg pulled in Rookie of the Week honors as well on October 7 after her two-goal game helped the Hawks beat Villanova on October 2.  The Voorschoten, Netherlands native started all 19 games and finished the season with two goals, four assists, and eight points.
