PHILADELPHIA - Saint Joseph's junior Aurora Davis claimed the title of the first singles flight and the team of Sarah Contrata and Arianne Polatnick won the second doubles flight consolation in Sunday's final rounds of the SJU Women's Tennis Invitational.

Opening play in the semifinals against Temple's Alicia Doms, Davis battled in the first set to victory, then made quick work of her opponent for a 7-6 (3), 6-1 victory to advance to the title match. Facing Fairfield's Monica Yajima with the title on the line, Davis took the first set easily, then battled into a tiebreaker in the second set before prevailing over the three-time MAAC Player of the Year for the title, 6-0, 7-6 (3).

After advancing to the semifinals of the second doubles consolation bracket earlier in the tournament, Contrata and Polatnick downed Jordyn Spellberg and Lucy Bass, 8-3, to move into the title match for the draw. In the championship match, the young SJU pair controlled the pace against Loyola's experienced team of All-MAAC honorees Tiffany Ash and Megan Hahn. In the end, it was Contrata and Polatnick coming out the victors, earning the title with an 8-4 victory.

Additionally on Sunday, Davis and Kristina Eisenbrand finished as runners-up in the doubles first flight, while Devi Jadeja and Kelly Mulquin were runners-up in foubles first flight consolation draw.

In singles action, Jadeja was runner-up in the second singles flight consolation draw after posting a 7-6 (5), 6-3 win in the semifinals, before falling 6-1, 7-6 (5).

The Hawks return to action at the ITA Regionals October 17-20.
