TOWSON, Md. - The Saint Joseph's women's tennis team wrapped up a strong first week of the season as the Hawks took three of five matches from Atlantic 10 foe George Washington on Sunday morning, before winning two of three doubles matched from Towson in the final day of the Tiger Classic.
Individually against the Colonials, junior Aurora Davis remained undefeated for the year, going 6-3, 7-6 against Leah Pascaerlli for the win. Sophomore Kristina Eisenbrand picked up a two-set victory against Stephanie Wei, 6-2, 7-5, while junior Kelly Mulquin posted the third singles win with a 6-4, 6-1 decision versus Egle Jakuciunaite.
Capping the tournament with doubles matches versus Towson, the Hawks underclassmen played well, taking two of three matches from the Tigers. Freshman Sarah Contrata and sophomore Kristina Eisenbrand defeated Ayana Dow and Sophie Lesage, 8-5, while newcomers Alexandra Zachem and Claire Minnoe downed Cailey Easdale and Nisha Shah, 8-4.
For the weekend, the Hawks won 14 of 18 matches at the Tournament. There is no team scoring for the tournament as results only count against individual records.
The Hawks return to action September 27 as they host the SJU Invitational.
