A high-scoring swingman, he helped SJU to three postseason appearances (2 NCAA, 1 NIT)... Led the Hawks to the MAC finals three straight seasons, winning 1971 and 1973 titles... Was a two-time All-MAC pick, Honorable Mention All-American, MAC MVP and All-Big 5 choice in 1973... He was named a tri-captain of 1973 SJU team... On February 9, 1972 he scored a career-high 41 points vs. Fairfield... McFarland currently is ranked 14th on the SJU career list with 1,545 points and 13th on single season list with 569 points at time of graduation... He averaged 20.0 points and 8.1 rebounds for Hawk freshman team that went 21-2 in 1970... Was drafted by NBA's New York Knicks in the 2nd round, and the ABA's Denver Nuggets in the 4th round in 1973... McFarland played three seasons (1974-76) in the ABA with Denver and San Diego... He was inducted into the Saint Joseph's Basketball Hall of Fame in 1991 and Philadelphia Big 5 Hall of Fame in 1984... Native of Willingboro, N.J. and graduate of John F. Kennedy High School.
