DURHAM, NC (04/05/03) -- The Hawk women's track team competed this weekend at the unscored Duke Invitational held at North Carolina Central University. The event was moved to NCCU due to renovations to the Duke track. Hawk freshman Andria Smythe ran a time of 12.03 in the 100m dash, snapping the school record by 0.22 seconds. She also met IC4A qualifying standards in the event. Not to be outdone in the 200m, the Jamaican native ran a time of 25.08, breaking the SJU mark by .08 seconds. Freshman Thuy Nguyen led the SJU distance contingent with an eighth place finish in the 800m run (2:14.44). Senior Sarah Conway also competed in the event, turning in a 2:14.82 for 11th place. Freshman Ann Regan turned in a time of 10:37.72 to take 16th in the 3000m. The 4x800 relay placed fifth and met IC4A qualifying-standards with a time of 9:08.73. The 4x400 relay placed sixth with a time of 3:55.15 and the 4x100 placed 10th with a time of 50.26. The Hawks return to action next weekend at Virginia's Lou Onesty Invitational.
