CLINTON, S.C./BUIES CREEK, N.C. - The women's lacrosse team blogged throughout its trip to the Carolinas to keep fans up to date with current happenings on and off the field. The Hawks defeated both Presbyterian, 18-5, on Sunday, March 3 and Campbell, 9-1, on Tuesday, March 5.
Day Four (3/4/13)
Today on our journey through the Carolinas... We arrived in North Carolina after a four-hour trip, checked into the absolutely BEAUTIFUL Hampton Inn and Suites, and headed out to practice at Campbell University, home of the Camels.
After a short but efficient two-hour practice, we headed back to the hotel to freshen up for our delectable dinner at Casa Carini! ¡MUY PERFECTO! What a truly great day to be a Hawk!
Day Three (3/3/13)
Day 3 of spring break is under our belts and the Hawks are about to call it a night. We have successfully pointed out the humorous parts of everyone's personalities from a stand-up skit prepared by the freshman class. It included the swishing of coaches' snow pants, [Allison] Heath's "purse" and [Meghan] McDevitt's walk. The act was followed by Abby [Ananian] and Nora [McGeever's] comical rendition of their teammates hilarious idiosyncrasies. To top the night off, Courtney [Emanuele] did her impersonation of [television characters], which left the team hurting from laughter!
As for South Carolina as a whole, we can say that the Hawks came out on top over the Blue Hose and that there is not much more around than a restaurant called FATZ and the High Point boys' baseball team. In regards to the actual lacrosse that was played, we ended the game 18-5; the Hawks had an awesome team win, playing 25 players with points from 11 different players.
Tomorrow we are back on the bus to North Carolina where the Hawks will continue to grow as a team and as a group of friends... Stay posted for more updates. THWND.
Day Two (3/2/13)
The day began back on the bus. We had quite the scenic route through Virginia's mountains today as we embarked on Day 2 of our travel to Presbyterian.
We stopped for lunch at Wendy's. Someone, who will remain unnamed, was feeding the seagulls. Before we knew it, our bus was surround by over 100 flying rats, similar to a scene from the 1963 flick The Birds - that was our cue to leave.
We continued our journey toward Presbyterian, and just 20 miles away from campus, it started pouring a wintery mix of hail and rain... in South Carolina... WHAT!!!?? Needless to say, we still had a very productive practice!
We returned to the hotel and had a delicious dinner at the infamous FATZ. Despite its slightly dicey name, we had a lovely dinner... so much so we will probably go back tomorrow night!
Day One (3/1/13)
And it begins... 27 girls, six days, over 22 hours of travel, and enough food to feed a mini army... Let the good times roll!
Our trip started out with a major traffic jam on 76, and it took us over an hour just to get to Philadelphia. After traffic finally broke, we were cruising! We popped Hunger Games into the DVD players, but the odds were not in our favor. Bill the bus driver reported we had a flat tire, and we traveled with our flashers on until we came to a truck stop. The flat tire scare held us up at the Chesapeake, Maryland stop for another extra 25 minutes.
It wasn't long before the bus had to stop at a weigh station. We all held our feet up as we patiently waited our turn... we were 12 trucks back!
Finally cruising again! We arrive in Roanoke, Va., our first over-night stop, a little after 1:30 a.m. Our alarms are set for an early wake up to continue our travels tomorrow!
