KORFMACHER LEADS THE WAY FOR HAWKS AT LAST CHANCE INVITE

BLACKSBURG, VA (03/23/02)- Mary Korfmacher, a senior, led the Saint Joseph's women's track team to close out the indoor season at the Last Chance meet this past weekend. Korfmacher ran the 400-meter dash in a time of 58.25 seconds besting competitiors from Duke, Georgia Tech, UNC-Wilmington and Campbell University. Senior Denise Fergus also competed for the Hawks in the 3000 meter event finishing in a time of 10:30.26. Junior Maisha Tyler, a standout long jumper, beat competitors from Duke, Georgia Tech, Waske Forest and Virginia Tech with her jump of 5.69 meters. The Hawks next compete on Saturday, March 2, when they travel to Massachusetts to compete in the ECAC Championships.
