WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ - The Saint Joseph's university men's and women's track squads took to the outdoor oval for the first time this season on Saturday afternoon at Monmouth. Both teams sent a full complement of runners to the meet. There was no team scoring.

On the men's side, freshman Chris Caranante was the sole Hawk entrant in the 100m and 200m sprints. He turned in times of 13.03 and 26.90 in those two events. In the 800m, sophomore Brendan Kearney took fourth place with a time of 1:55.99. Classmate Stephen Young was right on his heels with a 1:56.63, taking fifth. Junior Will Rowland placed fourth in the 5000m with a time of 15:21.92. Senior Matt McClure was the only member of the SJU squad to take part in the throwing events, and he registered throws of 41' 3" in the shot put and 105' 7" in the discus.

The women's squad was led by senior Erin Kelly's second-place finish in the 800m. Kelly's time of 2:19.37 paced six Hawk entrants in the race. Also performing well for the Hawks were junior Jordan Teuber and freshmen Caitlin McGrath and Cara Quinn. Teuber ran a 13.14 in the 100m, and followed that up with a third-place finish in the 200m (25.88). McGrath ran a 58.96 in the 400m to win her heat. She also led off on the fourth-place sprint medley relay squad. Quinn was the lead runner for the group that took third in that same event, and also ran a 27.91 to win her 200m heat.
