PHILADELPHIA (4/26/02) - Saint Joseph's University track performers, senior Ben Koch and junior Tim Fisher of the men's squad and seniors Mary Korfmacher and Bernadette Speer of the women's team, have been named to the 2002 Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference teams..

Korfmacher, who has compiled a 3.82 grade point average in elementary education, placed third in the 440 at Lafayette and fourth in the 400 at the PSU USTCA series. She also ran second in the 400 at the St. John's Fordham Invitational, setting a school record with a time of 58.80. At the A-10 Indoor Championships, she placed fourth in the 400.

Speer, a first year graduate student in international marketing with a 3.76 GPA, win the high jump at the Atlantic 10 Championships, in the process qualifying for the ECAC Championships. She did that despite competing sparingly during the season with a partially torn patella tendon. Speer also won the high jump at the Fordham/St. John's Invitational.

Koch, majoring in Interdisciplinary Health Services, owns a 3.47 cumulative grade point average. Athletically, he completed the indoor season with a fifth place finish in the mile at the Atlantic 10 Indoor Championships.

Fisher, an accounting major at SJU currently maintains a 3.81 cumulative grade point average. Fisher had a stellar indoor season finishing 2nd at the Rutgers Invitational in 800, winning the 3000 meter run at Rutgers and the 5000 meter race at the Fordham/St.John's Invite. Fisher also qualified for IC4A's at the Amory Invite in 3000 and won 5000 meter at the Atlantic 10 championships.
