CONWAY AND 4X800 CAPTURE GOLDS, BUT HAWKS PLACE 7TH AT A-10S

RICHMOND, VA (05/04/03) -- Senior Sarah Conway won the 800m with a season best time of 2:12.65 and the 4x800 relay raced its best time of the spring (9:04.94) to win its event, but Saint Joseph's finished 7th at the Atlantic 10 Championships at Richmond. Both will advance to the NCAA Regional Championships as a result of their A-10 golds. Freshman Andria Smythe had a strong showing in the sprints, placing second in the 100m (11.99) and breaking her own school record with a time of 25.03 in the 200m. Another rookie, Thuy Nguyen, finished right behind Conway in the 800m, finishing second with a time of 2:14.07. Sophomore Colleen Ladden finished fifth in the 400m (57.21) and both the 4x100 and 4x400 relays placed sixth, respectively. Saint Joseph's is back in action this weekend at the Princeton Invitational.
