PHILADELPHIA - Saint Joseph's University will serve as the host for the annual Navy Day Regatta for the first time, when the event is held on Saturday, October 10, on the Schuylkill River.
The Navy Day Regatta is a 2.5 mile race on the Schuylkill River, which features competitors from high school, college and master's. The Regatta has grown from five races to over 50 events with more than 2000 athletes participating.
In 1986, two Navy League members developed an idea to sponsor a rowing regatta to promote and support the Navy/Marine Corps awareness to be held the second week of October to recognize the birth of the U.S. Navy.
