NORRISTOWN, PA (3/14/04) - Sophomore Jason Volker was 2-2, but Saint Joseph's (2-18) mustered just four hits as it dropped a non-conference game against St. Peter's (2-4) at Latshaw-McCarthy Field, 8-0. Dan Cainas tossed a nine inning complete game and struck out 12 Hawks to even his record at 1-1. SJU's Bill McCollum (0-4) suffered the loss, surrendering seven runs and eight hits in four innings. SPC tallied twice in the second and added a run in the third before erupting for four runs in the fourth inning. Jared Fowler, who was 3-5 with a pair of runs and four RBI, cracked a three-run homer to cap off the big fourth inning. Freshman Adriano Petrutz and Joel Grimshaw combined to pitch the final five innings, allowing just one run and one hit, while strikingout seven. SJU returns to the diamond on Wednesday, hosting Villanova at 3:00 PM.
