BOXSCORE2 NORRISTOWN, PA (5/08/04) - St. Bonaventure (21-17, 11-6) received a pair of complete games and Saint Joseph's (10-39, 4-16) could not get on track offensively, as the Hawks dropped both ends of an Atlantic 10 doubleheader at Latshaw-McCarthy Field, 8-2 and 5-3. Sophomore Ryan Stadanlick had three hits on the afternoon for SJU. In game one, the Bonnies got on top early, scoring in each of the first three frames, and added insurance with runs in the fifth and sixth. The Hawks, meanwhile plated single tallies in the third and seventh innings, dropping the opener 8-2. Soren Johnson (2-2) hurled a complete game to get the win, allowing two runs on nine hits. He struck out seven and did not walk a batter. Ryan Hoagey (2-7) went 5.2 innings surrendering eight runs on 12 hits and took the loss. Jeff Williams threw the final 1.1 innings for SJU. Eric Wilson (3-4, 2 R, 2 RBI), Brian Pelligrini (3-4) and Matt Landahl (3-3) each had three hit for Bona. Wilson and Matt Marduesz both homered. The Hawks got two hits each from Stadanlick and Jason Volker. The second game was tightly pitched as SJU's Adriano Petrutz and SBU's Mike Proctor went head to head. It was a 1-1 game through four innings, before the Bonnies broke on top with single runs in the fifth and sixth and added a pair of insurance runs in the seventh. The Hawks tallied twice in their final at bat to make it interesting but St. Bonaventure held on for the 5-3 win. Proctor (2-2) went the distance allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits and striking out four. Petrutz (2-5) also allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits, while striking out seven. WIlliams pitched the final frame giving up two runs on one hit. Pellegrini was 2-3 with a home run and Joe Rizzo added a couple of hits for the Bonnies. The teams will wrap up their three game series on Sunday at 11:00 AM. Hawk seniors Bill McCollum, Joe Mucci and Jason Tarewicz will be honored in pregame ceremonies.
