PHILADELPHIA - Saint Joseph's head field hockey coach Michelle Finegan has announced the addition of a pair of new assistant coaches to her coaching staff as Jessica Javelet and Dallas Alexander will join Finegan on Hawk Hill for the 2011 season.
"We are thrilled to have Jessica and Dallas on our staff for this season," Finegan said. "They each have a great passion for the sport and the team and I can't wait to have them contribute their knowledge and experience to our efforts."
Javelet comes to Saint Joseph's from her alma mater, Torrey Pines High School in San Diego, where she served as an assistant coach for the past three seasons. The Rancho Santa Fe, Calif. native has also spent time with the United States Field Hockey Futures Program, where she has worked with the national U-14, U-16, and U-19 programs since 2004.
A standout player at the University of Louisville, Javelet was a First Team All-American as a senior and earned Big East Offensive Player of the Year and All-Conference First Team honors as well. As a junior, she led Division I in goals, finding the cage 30 times, and was a finalist for the Honda Award, given to the top female college athlete in 12 different sports. Javelet was also a finalist for the 2007 NCAA Woman of the Year Award.
Off the field, Javelet was the University of Louisville's Most Outstanding Graduating Senior and was the valedictorian for the Class of 2007. Among her academic accolades, she was twice named an Academic First Team All-American; in 2007 she was awarded an NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship and was named the Big East's Female Scholar Athlete of the Year.
Alexander has a lengthy and diverse résumé, most recently serving as a coach with Finegan's FSC Field Hockey Club. Prior to his tenure with FSC, Alexander was an assistant coach at the University of Pennsylvania, working with the Quaker goalkeepers and defensive unit. He also has previous experience at the club level with the Mystx Field Hockey Club and at the high school level at Springfield Township (Montgomery County).
A 2002 graduate of Dartmouth, Alexander has also served as an assistant track and field coach at both the high school and college levels, spending time at Springfield High School (Delaware County), La Salle University, and Springfield Township.
Saint Joseph's begins the season on Friday, August 26, with a 4:00 p.m. match at Drexel.
