PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's men's team will participate in the highlight of the season, the 72nd Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta. Racing on the Schulykill River begins on Friday morning and runs through Saturday afternoon.
The Hawks will also be celebrating the 40th anniversary of their gold-medal winning Varsity 8 at the 1970 Dad Vail Regatta.
The Hawks will be boating a Varsity 8, Lightweight 8, Freshman 8, Lightweight Freshman 8, Lightweight 4 and a Pair.
The Freshman 8 is seeded second, being rewarded for their stellar season. The Freshman 8 race will be hotly-contested with the Hawks defending the home river, with a race that should be one of the highlights of the season.
The Varsity 8 has been gaining some speed and has been revitalized after a few members returned from injuries. This year the V8 is a deep field with the addition of some newcomers, such as Virginia.
The Lightweight Eights are looking to make their mark on the field after a tough season.
"The small boats haven't had a tremendous amount of race experience this season but have been working themselves very hard over the past few weeks to get into the mix at Dad Vail. Overall, we are looking to earn some medals this weekend," said coach Drew Hill.
Streaming of the races will be available thru DadVailTV, which can be found at the regatta's website- www.dadvail.org. To link to DadVailTV, and for all results and schedules, click here.
