PHILADELPHIA - Saint Joseph's freshmen Josh Webb and Jen Wrublesky earned Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honors on Monday afternoon. Webb was named the Golf Rookie of the Week, while Wrublesky earned her fourth Field Hockey Rookie of the Week award of the season, and her second in as many weeks.
Webb posted his best finish of his collegiate career, tying for 26th at last week's Georgetown Hoya Invitational. Webb posted a season-low 71 in the final round and carded a three-round score of 88-75-71/224.
Wrublesky scored three goals for the Hawks as SJU went 1-1 this week. The Hawks defeated the Villanova Wildcats, 2-1, on Tuesday night as Wrublesky recorded both SJU tallies. The squad ended its regular season with a loss on Saturday afternoon, suffering a 4-2 setback at the hands of the regular season champion Temple Owls. Wrublesky notched a goal in that contest as well, giving her the team lead in both goals (nine) and points (22). She also added four assists, tying her for third on the team.
The Saint Joseph's golf team, which tied for 8th at the Hoya Invitational, is currently competing at the Old Dominion Invitational today and tomorrow.
Saint Joseph's will also participate in the 2007 Atlantic 10 Field Hockey Championship at Finnesey Field this week. The Hawks will have a rematch with Temple at 11:00 a.m. on Friday in the semifinals. The winner will face the winner of the second semifinal, Massachusetts or Richmond, in the championship game at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 3rd.
