PHILADELPHIA - The City of Philadelphia announced that the 2010 Dad Vail Regatta will take place at its traditional home on the Schuylkill River. This is a reversal of the announcement from a few weeks ago that the regatta would be held in Rumson, N.J.

City officials announced a multi-year agreement with the Dad Vail Regatta, which has been held in Philadelphia since 1953. The regatta, which is one of the nation's most prestigious, hosts over 3,500 rowers every year.

The Dad Vail Regatta is one of the biggest races of the season for both the Saint Joseph's men's and women's rowing teams. The Hawks' men's squad has won seven gold medals in the past eight seasons under coach Drew Hill, while the women's crew has won three golds in 11 years under coach Gerry Quinlan. In both 2005 and 2006, SJU's crews combined to win the overall points championship, while the women's Varsity 8 captured the title.

The Dad Vail Regatta will be held this year on May 7 and 8.
