HAWK WOMEN USE FIVE GOLDS TO EARN SECOND AT FORDHAM

NEW YORK, NY (01/10/03 - The Saint Joseph's women's track team used five gold medals on their way to a second place finish at the Fordham Invitational on Friday in New York. Senior Sarah Conway captured a first-place in the 1,000 meters (2:56.98) as did junior Sarah Click in the high jump (5'3"). Freshman Andria Smythe continued her impressive rookie campaign with a gold in the 60 meter dash (7.72) and a third in the long jump (18'3" 1/4). Another rookie, Thuy Nguyen (2:16.57) nipped sophomore teammate Kelly Victory (2:16.65) in the 800 meters. The 4x800 relay of sophomores Colleen Flanagan and Mary Crossin, Nguyen and Victory won by 30 seconds to round out the winners. Other strong showings included sophomore Mary Crossin finishing fourth in the 1,000 meters (3:07.42) and junior Amy Manwaring taking fourth in the 5,000 meters (18:18.43). Junior Maisha Tyler placed fourth in the long jump 18'0" 1/2.
