PENNSAUKEN, N.J. - The Saint Joseph's men's rowing won the Eights at the annual Jesuit Invitational, hosted by SJU, at Cooper River. The Hawks' men's and women's teams combined to win the Cannonball Trophy, signifying the overall points champion.
SJU's Lightweight 8 boat took first place in the Varsity 8, with the Heavyweight 8 taking second place. Both boats finished ahead of Boston College and Loyola. It was the Hawks' first gold medal in the Varsity 8 since 1999.
Saint Joseph's "A" boat took first in the Freshman 8, with the "B" boat placing third.
In the Varsity 4, the Hawks' "B" and "A" boats took first and third, respectively, with the boats comprised of a split of the Second Varsity 8 crew.
Saint Joseph's has a week off from racing before returning to action on April 3 at the Murphy Cup.
