Poughkeepsie, N.Y. - Saint Joseph's men's lacrosse fell to Marist, 15-9, on Saturday afternoon at Leonidoff Field. Senior Sean Evans scored two goals for the Hawks.
The teams battled for the first half of the game, tying it up three times, but the Hawks were down, 6-4, at the break.
Marist's Connor Rice, who tallied five goals and three assists, opened the second half with a goal at the 11:47 mark before SJU netted three straight to knot the game again at 7-7. In the last six minutes of the period the Red Foxes would begin their 8-2 run with four goals to make it 11-7.
Hawks' Kyle Williams scored less than two minutes into the fourth quarter to bring SJU within three but Marist scored another four goals before Saint Joseph's Bobby Hurley netted the last goal of the game with 2:43 remaining for a 15-9 final.
Senior goalkeeper Chase Stewart made eight saves in net for the Hawks.
SJU hosts Canisius next on Saturday, April 3, at Finnesey Field. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
