MERION STATION, Pa. - Senior Sarah Contrata picked up a win at No. 5 singles, but the Saint Joseph's women's tennis team dropped its home finale to George Washington, 6-1, on Sunday.

Contrata picked up the point for SJU as she topped Kamilla Beisenova, 6-3, 7-5.

Unfortunately for the Hawks, the Colonials were able to claim the other six points to earn the team win.

"George Washington was too talented, too strong, too balanced and too confident for our Hawks to contain them. Except for senior Sarah Contrata, who is having an exceptional season, we were outplayed in every match. Which doesn't mean we did not display great Hawk spirit on every court, it simply acknowledges that on the day GW was the better team," said SJU head coach Ian Crookenden. "The final home match disappointment of a loss was tempered by a wonderful recognition to our senior class and the many parents who were in attendance."

The Hawks (6-14) wrap up the regular season this Thursday at Villanova.
