OLEAN, N.Y. - Behind stellar pitching from sophomore Ashley Ventura and junior Madison Clarke, the Saint Joseph's swept a doubleheader at St. Bonaventure on Friday. The Hawks took the opener, 4-1, and won game two, 3-0.

In the opener, Ventura scattered six hits over seven innings and allowed one earned run to improve to 9-8 on the year.

Saint Joseph's (16-20, 8-3 A-10) took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second on a two-run single by Taryn Grober that scored Kaylyn Zierke and Madeline Brunck.

The Bonnies answered with a run in the third, but the Hawks added an insurance run in the fifth on an RBI single by Lauren Reilly and an RBI double by Molly Kapala in the seventh.

In game two, Clarke was dominant as she allowed just two hits to pick up the win and move to 5-6 on the year.

A single by Stacey Mayer in the top of the first gave SJU a 2-0 lead as Amanda Kulp and Jancarla Herrera scored on the hit.

Kapala would score on an RBI single by Herrera in the fifth to make it 3-0, and that's all Clakre and the SJU defense needed as they allowed just one base runner over the final three innings to preserve the win.

The Hawks and Bonnies cap their three-game series on Saturday with a single game set to start at noon.
