WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Freshman Tamar Bourdeau placed third in the 500m and the Hawks earned 17 points from a trio of top-ten 800m finishes as the Saint Joseph’s women’s track and field squad accumulated 43 points to earn a fourth-place team finish in a field of six at the Monmouth Winter Collegiate Invitational on Saturday afternoon. Monmouth won the meet with 340 points, followed by Lafayette (123), NJIT (48), Saint Joseph’s, Rider (25), and St. Peter’s (17). 

Bourdeau placed third in a field of nine in a season-best 500m time of 1:17.92 to earn eight points for the Crimson and Gray. The performance was the fastest by a rookie and second fastest by a collegiate runner.

Sophomore Sara Rankin placed second in her heat en route to a fifth-place overall finish in a field of 28, crossing the finish line of the 800m race in a collegiate-best time of 2:24.60. The performance earned eight points for the Hawks. 

Freshmen Joanna DeSousa (2:28.07 PR) and Samantha Mayers (2:28.27 PR) placed ninth and 10th, respectively, to add nine additional points out of the 800m as the trio combined for 17 total points. 


Freshmen Sophia Recchilungo (1:00.86) and Karley Hess (1:01.31) placed eighth and ninth, respectively, in a field of 32 to combine for seven points out of the 400m.

Junior Aarynn Crawley posted a season-best triple jump mark of 9.64m, which placed her 11th overall for four points. 

Sophomore Lucy Harmon won her heat en route to a sixth-place finish in a field of 23 milers. Harmon checked in with a collegiate-best time of 5:25.79 for three points. 

Saint Joseph’s earned the remainder of its points from 3000m and high jump performances. 

The Hawks return to action at the 2017 Atlantic 10 Indoor Track and Field Championships next Saturday, February 18 through Sunday, February 19 in Fairfax, Va.
